THIS POST IS FROM AN OLDER VERSION OF THIS WEBLOG USING MOVABLE TYPE - IT MAY BE IRRELEVANT.
When the heat is on its a good idea to point the finger at someone else.
But this I feel is a worthy whinge regardless. Zeldman a key advocate of standards and also a stickler for accessbility has decided that he will back the pixel industries portal (I had to make their link open in a new window, as a nasty redirect script makes it nearly impossible to navigate back with your browser controls). Interestingly enough, this site neither validates nor provides any accessibility features. I guess high-brow design is really only for the “Temporarily Able Bodied” amongst our society. Interesting choice of affiliation.
Gonzalo, the winner of my CSS competition has agreed to work on making his design more compatible with older browsers. As much as I hate hacking, inspired by the comments of LowRes I have agreed. Although, only if it validates. As far as acessibility goes I am sure my site is covered to a greater extent than most and I make a vow to continue improving the accessibility and providing as much advice as I can on how you can do likewise. I am currently working on an article for the site on acessibility, and I would be grateful if people would offer to proof-read it and send me feedback before it goes online.
As from tonight I will be taking a 7 day break. I will of course be checking my email occasionally (and replying), but other than that I expect a week of rest, reading and exploring nearby Spanish villages. Feel free to keep using the comments and I will see you upon my return!
